Birth, marriage, and death represent the milestones in the life of an individual, around which many customs and traditions have been shaped over the centuries. The article presents a micro-historical study of said customs in Žiri region in the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century. It is based on various sources: archival documents, oral sources, prayer books, central registers, photographs, etc., which in unison give us a plastic presentation of how the people of Žiri celebrated birth and marriage, and mourned death.
