Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The journal Historia Moderna Bosnia & Herzegovina, published by the Association for Modern History Sarajevo, publishes:

  • Original scientific papers
  • Review papers
  • Expert papers

The category of the paper is suggested by the author, and the final decision is made by the Editorial Board.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Along with the papers, it is necessary to submit:

  • Title of the paper
  • Author's name and surname
  • Institution name and address
  • Email address
  • Abstract and keywords in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
  • Abstract and keywords in English
  • Summary (in BHS or English, depending on the language of the text)
  • In-text notes
  • List of sources and literature

The papers must be written in MS Word, using Times New Roman font, size 12, and 1.5 spacing. Notes should use size 10 font with single spacing. Submit the papers to the journal's Editorial Board via email at katz.vera@gmail.com/husnijakamberovic@gmail.com/edin.omercic@iis.unsa.ba  

IN-TEXT CITATION IN THE MANUSCRIPT

I. Citing books and articles

Write the author's surname and initials, year of publication, and page number where the information is found. If citing two or more works by the same author in the same year, label them as 'a', 'b', etc.

If citing a work by two authors, list their names. For more than two authors, mention the first author, and the rest are marked as 'et al.'

E.g., Brkić H. 1971. 55. // Brkić H. 1971. a. 55. Brkić H. 1971. b. 55. // Brkić H. i Vilić M. 1971. 55. // Brkić H. et.al. 1971. 55.

Citing unpublished manuscripts

Include the author's surname and initials, year, and page number.

II. Citing unpublished sources

Specify the archive name (abbreviation), fund name, box number (if relevant), document signature (if the archive is organized), document name, page number, and date (if the material is unsorted).

E.g., ABH, Fond: VLBH, kut. 15, sign. 123/1946. ABH, Fond: CKSKBH, kut. 66, Izvještaj o stanju u partijskim organizacijama, 16, 15. 5. 1955.

III. Citing published sources

For published archival material, mention the editor's surname and initials, year of publication, page number. If there is no editor, provide the book title, year of publication, and page number.

E.g., Petranović B. 1980. 55. Početak kraja SFRJ. Stenogram i drugi prateći dokumenti proširene sjednice Izvršnog komiteta CKSKJ, održane 14-16. marta 1962. 2008. 98.

For internet sources

Include the website name and address. Mention the access date.

For newspaper articles

Provide the author's surname and initials. ''Article title''. Newspaper name (year, number). Place of publication, date, page number.

For interviews

Include the person's name, date of the interview, and where the written or audio record is located.

Include the show name, TV name, the theme of the show, and the broadcast date.

Copyright Notice

When a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors transfer the copyright to the publisher. In the event that the manuscript is not accepted for publication in the journal, the authors reserve all rights.

The following non-exclusive rights to the manuscript, including supplementary materials, and any parts, abstracts, or elements of the manuscript are transferred to the publisher:

 – the right to reproduce and distribute the manuscript in hard copy, including on-demand printing;
– the right to print proofs, reprints and special edition manuscripts;
– the right to translate the manuscript into other languages;
– the right to reproduce the manuscript using photomechanical or similar means, including but not limited to photocopying, and the right to distribute these copies;
