This paper, based on archival sources and literature, shows the way in which the political elite, using academic community, tried to prevent the appointment of Muhamed Filipović to the position of Associate Professor at the University of Sarajevo. The context in which this all happened was described, alongside the course of discussion at the Professors’ Council of the Faculty of Philosophy of Sarajevo and, finally, the thesis is proposed that this example indicates the broader relations between politics and intellectuals in the socialist era.
